Did A+ borrow Seth Andrew's registered logo?

Post  UnbelieveSteve on Sun Jan 20, 2013 11:30 pm

It appears 'The Thinking Atheist' registered his logo mid September 2012. Why then and not earlier? Was he sent a link to the atheismplus forum page showing a similar logo used on their board? Just askin'.

Just a few thoughts.

Submitted to wiki by jharnett who claims to be the copyright holder. Not sure who that is but they've applied the creative commons license, specifically allowing others to use the work and to modify it so long as the person using it provides attribution and applies the same license.

1) Don't know if jharnett actually owns the copyright.
2) Don't know if atheism+ have attributed copyright to jharnett anywhere.

If those two are satisfied then Atheism+ may be entirely within their rights.

Wouldn't the best people to answer this question be the forum administrators at the A+ forum, or perhaps The Thinking Atheist himself?

Uhh, clearly it's a different image. Do you not see the plus sign at the end of the A+ers' image??

You know, it's like when Vanilla Ice was inspired by Under Pressure. Completely different.

We don't talk about Vanilla Ice here. Wink

Queen, Led Zep, RUSH, AC/DC, but never Vanilla Ice. Rolling Eyes

Well.. Led Zeppelin, Rush, and AC/DC never ripped David Bowie and Queen off, so that kinda ruins in my whole comparison Sad

I think I need a week's vacation to think about what I've done wrong here.

Back on topic:

The portion of The Thinking Atheist's logo that features the A in the circle predates their use.

The circle A logo was actually the winner of a design competition held by the Atheist Alliance International. The designer was named Dianne Reed.

According to wiki commons, the image is free to be used and modified for any purpose.

So - all good.
